Think about this phrase for a second...
We all like to get free stuff. It almost feels like winning a lottery or something. However, when the free stuff is food, we barely think twice and it's already in our mouth; even if we are not hungry. We tend to forget that our body is not a garbage can, but we are happy because it's free.
This is when my phrase comes into picture, when we get free food, it has the same amount of calories and fat as if we would have paid for it. So we shouldn't forget it, and for the next time when somebody offers you any kind of food or drink for free, whisper to yourself: "Free food is NOT Fat free... and think twice if you need it or not; and It's OK to say "no thank you", leave it for the next garbage can in the area.

Yaniv, as always your blog make mi think about it. Since today every time that someone will offer me food I will think twice. I am that kind of person that eats all the time even if I’m not hungry but I’m going to change because you’re right at the end the only thing that I win from that are calories.
Yaniv,
What about foods that are organic but are given away for samples because we have to taste test it, before we buy the products? Like if we go to a party, we don't have to eat everything that is on the table, we just learn to select the healthy meals good for our body. On the other hand, I agree with you, eating healthy foods.
Tess,
I personally don't buy food that is already made (processed). I think it's better to cook for yourself; there are no secret ingredients or extra fat to make it "tasty"...
However, if you do buy processed food and they let you try it, take a look at the ingredients first. It's always good to see what's inside.
Interesting message. I do have some comments here because I think you see some thinks different than they are.
1. It is hard to believe that the food manufacturers are listing everything what is inside of the product you are about to buy.
2. Food culture based on religion restrictions make people to become " garbage cans" not because they choose to. ( btw : next time use some other epithets in this way you will hurt nobody feelings )
3. Because the whole world is fighting overweight issue it would be hard to find free food fat free. Food with calories and fat is usual cheaper than the fat free one.
In the end i would love to say that a mini hot dog or a tasty quesadilla or whatever we call non-healthy food wouldn't hurt nobody if that comes one or two times every month or year.
I will try to post here my opinion about food.
:) Thank's
B
Yo Boggie,
First of all let's hope that the food manufacturers are listing every ingredient, after all they have to and it's against the law to not.
Regarding #2 - this is a good point that you mentioned here. In many cultures the food is not so healthy because of the ingredients. Let's take Israel for example, we have this food called Falafel. This food is made of good ingredients but it's fried and it makes it unhealthy. However, I think that you can get a similar flavor if you bake it instead. So I don't think people should give up the culture in order to stay healthy. I guess the question is if they really are aware of it or if they care about it...
Regarding #3 - You are right, unfortunately healthyer food is cost more... A good example is organic food but I hope that soon it will brake even with the conventional food, and then the price will be the same.
However, if you buy whole grains or legumes (lentils, barely, beans, brown rice, chickpeas...) for a little more than a dollar you can get a 16 oz bag of these, cut some veggies and you have a great meal for about 4 people.
To be continue...
